Book Review: ‘My Love, Hawaii’ by, Vicky DiMichele
Working for a travel agency, Marie’s company sends her on a trip to Hawaii to learn about destination weddings and honeymoons on the beautiful island of O’ahu. At her first group meeting though, she encounters Matt, a past crush who happens to be engaged to Alex, the woman heading the Familiarization Trip. Struggling with her past feelings, flames ignite and the island will never be the same for her again.
My Love, Hawaii really resonates with me on a personal level. The personal journey of divorce and meeting a past love by chance is a story that many people can relate to. The scenery of locations in the book jump off the page and the relationships between the characters makes you feel like you are included in the growing friendships. I can feel myself in the hotel properties and exploring the destinations along with them so it in a way, transports me to the island of Oahu. I get a feeling of being in Honolulu; practicing yoga, shopping, dining, drinking on the beach, falling in love, wedding planning, dog adoption… the list goes on and on.
This is an inspirational book, not just to inspire me to visit Hawaii again but to take a deep dive into my relationships. Discover what matters within my personal life and reevaluate what I am really looking for in this world.
