With the Vermont fall foliage usually at it’s peak in October, now is the perfect time to book your getaway or weekend trip to Vermont resorts. Vermont offers many unique and exciting resorts that will make you feel like you are away from home but not too far in case your children want to come along. Whether you are visiting just for overnight accommodations or staying longer, we have plenty of recommendations based on what kind of experience you would like to have while visiting Vermont during one of our most beautiful seasons – autumn!
Want to know how you can enjoy this season while staying in luxury resorts? I’ve put together an exciting list of my favorite hotels located in scenic locations around Vermont, which will give you breathtaking views from your bedroom window!
Twin Farms
Twin Farms is located in Barnard and is one of my favorite Vermont resorts. They are a member of Relais & Châteaux which again is one of my favorite hotel collections. This property is for those who have wished for that perfect private country retreat in New England. This pastoral paradise is set on 300 acres of spectacular hills, fields, and forest. All perfect for exploring what nature has to offer this fall.
They have 20 individually designed accommodations for you to choose from. There’s the rustic Log Cabin, with its river-rock fireplace; the Tree house Cottage, with its Adirondack twig accents; and the surprising Meadow Cottage, decorated in an unexpected Moroccan style. Outdoor activities range from hiking, biking, and fly-fishing to snowshoeing, sledding, and downhill and cross-country skiing. Golf, gallery hopping, and shopping in Woodstock are all nearby. The Lodge at Spruce Peak
The Lodge at Spruce Peak is New England’s only luxury slope-side lodging destination. It is located in the heart of the Spruce Peak community in Stowe, Vermont. This resort has all of the amenities you would expect in a destination. Most rooms feature private balconies with stunning views, gas fireplaces and elevated in-room amenities. Suites and Penthouses also include in-room laundry and private kitchens. These make perfect categories for families, especially if you have small children.
At the heart of the Green Mountains, you have easy access to outdoor activities and adventures all year. Choose from ice-skating and snowshoeing in the winter, to mountain biking and championship golf in the summer. Fall is my favorite though with their hiking adventures through the fall foliage! For gear rentals and maps to guided off-site excursions, Spruce Peak Outfitters is your personal adventure concierge. They work with local experts to curate your best Vermont adventure for all skill levels.
The Lodge also offers farm-fresh dining. Join their chefs for special interactive culinary events. They use locally sourced food to create special dishes that are so much fun. The Spa at Spruce Peak is part of the Green Spa Network. Remember that a complete wellness journey is included with every treatment. Click here to learn more!
Biking Tours
The New England states offer some of the best bike riding in the country. Vermont offers a variety of loops with miles and miles to explore, on or off road. Fall is the time of year that most people want to get out and ride their bikes. There are so many ways you can get out there and explore such as taking a group tour or just biking individually. One of my favorite tours is with DuVine Cycling + Adventure Co. They have a lot of really great options to choose from this fall. Combine that with one of your favorite Vermont resorts and you have a fabulous luxury vacation! Click here to check out some ideas!
