An Italian vacation is a magical trip of a lifetime. There are so many regions and sites to see that you could spend a lifetime doing just that. Like most people though, you may only have a week or two for exploration. Obviously shopping will be involved with your trip and why not?
You are in a destination that is world-renowned as a luxury shopping destination. Get into Prada for that new bag and rock those Versace sunglasses. Here is a basic list that will cover what to bring with you on your next trip to this beautiful country and why. Just a reminder that the links below are affiliate links and although they help support this blog, you do not pay anything extra because of them.
Italian Vacation Packing List
Scarf
Remember to pack a scarf for your Italian vacation. Not only will it help dress up your outfit, some churches require women to have a head covering or at least cover your shoulders upon entering. You always want to keep up to date with the local culture so make sure you are covered (literally). Click here to check out this beautiful butterfly scarf. I love it because there are so many colors in it that this scarf can match with a lot of different outfits.
Wine Bottle Protector
If you are like me and love wine, Italy is the perfect destination to find your next favorite bottle. Bringing it home can be tricky though. Check your country’s rules about how much you can come back with and make sure those bottles are protected. The last thing you want to do when you get home is to soak wine stained clothes if a bottle opens in your luggage. Pack some of these light-weight bottle protectors (click here to check these out) and save yourself the headache.
Books
You will probably have a long flight for your Italian vacation so having a book in your bag helps cut down on your screen time. I like reading books about my destination either before or during my trip. If I do have a chance to read it before, that will help me plan what I can potentially experience while in the destination. A lot of times an author will pull from their own experiences even if it is a fictional story. Click here to check out ‘Allure of Capri’. It is a short novel that really captures the island of Capri!
Swimsuit
Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit. Even if you aren’t going to be by a beach, you never know where your Italian adventure may take you. Who knows! Maybe you will skip that tour of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and find yourself at a beach-side restaurant in Castiglioncello instead. Even if you stick to your perfectly planned itinerary, there are usually pools at the villas and resorts where you are staying. Italy is generally a warmer climate (unless you are touring the North which are mountainous) so you don’t want to spend your free time shopping for that perfect swimsuit to wear for that Instagram selfie. Click here to check out some of my favorites.
Power Converter
One thing NOT to forget on your Italian vacation is that you need a power converter if you are coming from the USA. Plugs over in Europe are generally different than what we are used to here in the States. You want to be able to charge your phone and any other electronic devices you are bringing. I like these ones because they are small and also have USB ports so you can charge more than one device at a time per outlet.
